For a talented Commercial Director there is much to commend our client, a privately owned fmcg organisation which in under 30 years has established itself as an award winning global player with a stable of successful brands and partnerships with some of the world’s leading high street retailers and independent distributors.
Headquartered in the UK with offices in New York, Germany and Hong Kong and manufacturing facilities in the Far East the company has created an enviable reputation through its innovative approach to design, creative excellence and high manufacturing standards.
With strong market potential and a real appetite for growth the company is strengthening its senior leadership team with this influential new appointment. The organisation has a complex supply chain with a high number of sku’s, constantly changing product mix and demanding consumer requirements – where the key challenge is to develop and implement a robust and cohesive business planning strategy which will ensure the achievement of the company’s profit and revenue targets.
This is a highly visible front line Commercial Director role, bringing a clear commercial focus across an unusually broad span of control and embraces team management, cross functional relationships and revenue accountability. Specific responsibilities involve direction of the product development strategy and related product life cycle management; creation of the demand management road map and associated forecasting and reporting together with standard costing and margin control. Leadership and coordination of the sales directors and their teams also features heavily.
The client is looking for an accomplished sales/marketing/commercial executive with an outstanding pedigree in enhancing sales and profit performance; a real achiever who can bring clear leadership, vision and focus to all aspects of the commercial function. Degree qualified, possibly with an MBA, you will have developed an impressive track record in a commercially influential capacity where strategic business planning and revenue management feature highly. Intellectually strong and with a sharp and astute business mind, your analytical and numerical acumen will be second to none.
Your career will certainly have developed in a fast moving, high volume climate and will have encompassed management of demand and product life cycles in a volatile international context. You will have seen first hand how best practice works and will have the empathy to introduce this into a pragmatic medium sized organisation which has the potential to grow. The client is open minded about your sector background – fmcg is clearly of interest as are high volume businesses where design features heavily and/or there is a cyclical demand to sales.
Above all you will possess the presence, personality and stature to win the hearts and minds of colleagues, customers and suppliers alike. This is a highly influential Commercial Director role reporting to the Managing Director and acting as a close business partner, success in which will most certainly result in a board appointment – it is essential therefore that candidates have head room for future career growth
