This is a new position with a rapidly expanding and highly successful company, part of a major international group, which is acknowledged as a market leader in the provision of utility service infrastructure and connections for residential developments. They design install and operate bespoke networks to ensure the most cost effective solution for each development and have an outstanding reputation for their engineering excellence, quality of service, safety standards and regulatory compliance.
The UK government’s carbon reduction targets will over the next few years lead to house builders increasingly seeking on-site renewable energy sources. This will create significant new market opportunities and the company wishes to appoint a very high calibre engineer with proven technical expertise in renewable energy for residential developments to optimise the potential offered by this exciting and rapidly expanding sector.
Reporting to the Managing Director you will spearhead their entry into this market by undertaking an in depth evaluation of the technologies available and their application, which will include solar thermal, photovoltaic, heat pumps and other renewable heat and power generation technologies. Subsequently you will assist in the development of and then implement a strategic plan for market entry which will include full competitor analysis, regulatory and compliance criteria, systems and process requirements, operational and maintenance frameworks and partner and supplier recommendations.
You will establish a small high calibre specialist engineering team which will interface closely with the central sales and marketing, operational and support functional departments and be fully accountable for the profitable performance of this new business area.
Candidates will be engineering graduates who are fully conversant with the application of renewable energy technologies as appropriate for new build residential developments and associated commercial use areas. A versatile, self-directed individual is required with well developed commercial and financial awareness who recognises the challenges and opportunities presented by this unique opportunity which could result in enhanced corporate responsibility for this new business unit in the medium term.
