Reporting to the Chief Executive and forming part of the senior management team, this is a full strategic and operational leadership role of a well invested single site operation encompassing manufacturing, engineering, development and quality. There is a distinct chemical and technical aspect to the production process which is continuous with high volume batches.
Operational effectiveness and efficiency using lean techniques is a major job challenge and particular emphasis will be placed on cost down, material utilisation, product change over, down time and wastage whilst maintaining consistently high levels of quality. Embedding a culture built around empowerment and accountability together with team development and coaching are also key accountabilities.
Candidates will need to be highly impressive with the confidence to hit the ground running and the energy and drive to bring an immediate improvement to performance whilst building a sustainable strategy of continuous improvement for the future.
Degree qualified in chemistry, chemical engineering or a closely related chemistry discipline you will have a demonstrable track record in running a fast moving, capital intensive plant where chemical reactions are a key feature of the manufacturing process. Expertise with polymer based products would be particularly welcome. You will have seen first hand world class manufacturing standards and have real evidence in driving production efficiencies and resolving complex technical and engineering issues through a multi disciplinary team.
A sharp strategic thinker with a strong intellect and an analytical mind, you will also be a highly credible and persuasive communicator with an inclusive leadership style and the charisma to bring about cultural change.
