Reporting to the Commercial Director, your key responsibility will be to take full ownership of a diverse category with a significant spend. You will lead, manage and develop a team of buyers, new product developers and marketeers, delivering innovative, high quality, margin enhancing solutions in line with group objectives. The role encompasses the full commercial mix with business planning, developing and implementing new innovative product/channel/sector strategies, purchasing/supplier negotiation and managing budgets/financial analysis all high on your agenda. Achievement of top quality results is mission critical, which will be greatly aided by your ability to develop first class relationships with your team, internal/ external customers and suppliers alike.
Degree educated, you will possess a strong buying background ideally gained within a food/retail/manufacturing style environment. Candidates with commercial/buying/category management/food development experience from the major retail multiples would be of special interest. You will be a high integrity individual with exceptional communication, presentation and people management skills – a proactive and influential leader who can make things happen in this fast-paced, collaborative, cross-functional culture. Intellectually strong and with a sharp and astute business mind, your analytical, numerical and commercial acumen will be second to none.
