This is an outstanding opportunity to take executive control of Manx Gas Ltd a fully integrated gas utility and the single point of contact for all gas needs on the Isle of Man. The company, which is part of the International Energy Group, has turnover in excess of £22 million and c100 employees serving 22,000 metered customers and a further 3,000 who are supplied with LPG in bulk or cylinders and has an outstanding safety record. It operates a highly efficient distribution network for domestic and commercial customers, provides an inclusive supply service from planning through to installation including the sale of new appliances, together with a high efficiency rapid response maintenance service. Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will have responsibility for the strategic direction and operation of the company, the development and implementation of strategies which will enhance all aspects of service delivery whilst ensuring a safe, secure and efficient supply at minimum cost to their customers with minimum environmental impact. You will also exercise prudent financial control, optimise asset utilisation and ensure budgetary targets are attained, whilst promoting high standards of corporate governance and enhancing the effectiveness and contribution of all employees.
Candidates will be graduates in engineering or business studies with substantial experience as an executive director of a utility, service oriented, or manufacturing business with revenues in excess of £20 million and over 100 employees and will preferably have experience of operating in a regulatory environment. They must be able to demonstrate an outstanding contribution to the enhancement of profitability and productivity in a tightly controlled total business. A versatile, self-directed individual is required with excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. They must possess the presence, personality, resilience and business acumen, as well as diplomacy and political awareness, essential to fulfil the requirements of this challenging role within a close knit island community.
